Where is Wearside Golf Club?

Wearside Golf Course is situated to the west of the City of Sunderland, and occupies a position adjacent to the A19 but between the A19 and A1(M).

So whether travelling from the North or South it is easily accessible from either direction.

The Club is located on the south bank of the River Wear one mile west of junction of the A19 and 5.5 miles east of the A1(M).

A19 Route - Travelling via the A19, take the A183 exit and head for Chester-le-Street. 100 yards on your right you will find a road signposted Offerton / Cox Green.

Follow this road as it turns left at the end of the lane where a farm is on the right hand side, travelling down the hill over the humped bridge.

The Golf Club is visible on your right-hand side.

A1(M) Route - Travelling via the A1(M), take the A183 exit, and head for Sunderland, passing on the way, Bournmoor, Shiney Row, and Penshaw.

Once past Penshaw, you will see Penshaw Monument on your left, continue onto the dual carriageway until you see a left-turn signposted Offerton / Cox Green.

Follow this road as it turns left at the end of the lane where a farm is on the right hand side, travelling down the hill over the humped bridge.

The Golf Club is visible on your right-hand side.

Visitors please note: The following Club Rules pertain to the approach road and parking. We ask that any visitors please acquaint themselves with and respect these rules.

Approach Road

7.1

Users of the approach road must ensure that:

a) Speed is kept to a minimum.

b) Cars leaving give way to cars approaching.

c) They stop to allow play across the road at the 18th, i.e. golfers have priority.

Parking

8.1

Members or visitors must not park in the spaces designated for Officers and Sub Committee Chairmen.

8.2

Members are requested to park sensibly and within the lined spaces only.

8.3

The area marked in yellow to the front left of the Professional's shop must not be used for parking.

8.4

Parking on the approach road from the schoolhouse to the Club is not permitted N.B. In the overflow car parking area adjacent to the 9th fairway there are no white lines provided, nevertheless, members must still park sensibly with due regard to the needs of others.
