NEWS OF THE JUNIOR GIRLS SECTION

Founded in 2006 under the guidance of Joan Lilley, and with the continued assistance of Doug Brolls the Junior Girls Section is making good progress, as can be seen from the six competitors able to participate in the Ladies Captain's Day Event.

We now have eight girls ranging in age from eleven to fifteen years.

The group meets every week and more frequently in the holidays. 

Doug Brolls has coached the girls regularly as a group and he is delighted with their determination and progress.

 The girls have now gelled as a team and are mutually supportive in their endeavours.

Three of the girls have now achieved a Congu handicap and the others are in the process of doing so.

They are all on the Durham County data base and receive further coaching from this body. The girls participate in County events and thereby are meeting a wide range of young golfers.

Lara Henderson, aged fifteen played in a Wearside Ladies team match last week and greatly enjoyed the experience.  

The Ladies Section and Doug Brolls himself has been very supportive and is delighted with the young girl's progress and attitudes.

Wearside is proud to be the only club in the County with such a group of girls.

TWO ONE HOUR SESSIONS FROM 09.30 TO 10.30 AND 10.30 TO 11.30 EVERY SATURDAY MORNING DURING THE GOLFING SEASON, DESIGNED FOR YOU TO LEARN AND IMPROVE YOUR GAME WHILE HAVING LOTS OF FUN. ALL THIS FOR ONLY £2.00 EACH WEEK. AVAILABLE TO NON MEMBERS.

THE TWO SESSIONS ARE SPLIT TO ACCOMMODATE 'STARTERS/YOUNGER JUNIORS' IN THE FIRST SESSION AND 'MORE ESTABLISHED JUNIORS' IN THE SECOND SESSION.
