Championship day was one full of surprises with two of the Club championships going to a playoff situation. First of all we had a new Club Champion in Derek Goldsmith who was successful after a five hole play off against David Vest & S. Cook, all having carded a 146 total after 36 holes. Next came John Naisby in the Senior Championship defeating Bob Turner, again in a five hole playoff after both players had a 36 hole total of 157. The Ladies Champio is Susan Cooper with a fine return of 166. The Junior Chamionship was won by K. Ayre with a fine 150 total. Other Results 2nd Division Championship - L. An EGM has been called and is set for the evening of Tues 13th July 2010. It is important that club members make themselevs aware of the circumstances for this action and attend the meeting. Details of the meeting and the reasons for its calling have been posted around the clubhouse and locker rooms.
Some interesting points worthy of mention are as follows:- 1 The conifer bushes at the side of the fairways which currently mark the distances to the centre of the greens, have been classed as an "Immovable Obstruction" as from 1st July 2010. They have been staked accordingly & relief can be taken if they interfere with a golfer's stance or swing. The bushes on the fifth hole have been uprooted as they were not accurate, following the re-siting of the green a few years ago. 2 From January 2011, anyone who loses their Computer/Bar Swipe Card will be charged £5 for a replacement card. This reflects the cost incurred by the office in replacing lost cards. If your card becomes faulty however, it will be replaced free of charge. 3 The solid tining & top dressing programme has undoubtedly been more disruptive this spring than was planned, due to an unforeseen combination of circumstances. If we had experienced just a normal level of spring growth then the level of disruption would not have been so prolonged. A turn to milder conditions has proven to be beneficial, allowing the putting surfaces to improve dramatically. It has been noticiable that the vast majority of courses in our area have been much in the same situation. 4 The new bar menu is now in place, and has proven to be very popular with members and visitors alike. Please try to support the club by using the catering facilities whenever possible. As ever, comments of a constructive nature are always welcome.

For those members not yet having played in a Club Competition, please note " With effect from the April Monthly Medal Competition all scores are now entered via the new computer system in the lounge. To enter your scores you will need your Club swipe card, as this is now the system identifies the player and correct handicap.
