MEMBERS HANDICAPS By clicking on the image you will be directed to the website "How Did I Do" from where you can register as a user and be able to view your handicap and competition details. Captain v Secretary Please note that this match has been moved to Saturday 8th October 2011 This year it will be a pairs aggregate stableford competition based on three quarters of full handicap, open to ladies and gents and starting at 2.00pm with a shotgun start. Dinner at 7.00pm for 19.30pm. Dress will be lounge suits for gents and evening wear for ladies. £15.00 per head payable via the office. Tees allocated on first come first served basis.

Congratulations to the following members for their recent successes:-
The Course Manager and Greenkeeping Staff can be congratulated on their efforts to present the course at its best prior to the current ongoing treatment to the greens. They have had unfair criticism in the past on the condition of the greens, but now that the eradication of rye grass, and the largely successful treatment of the Anthraxnose and Fungal Diseases present earlier in the year and evident in previous years,is taking shape there has been a marked improvement bringing forth comments from some of the older members that August saw the best condition of the greens for some 15 years. The rescue program is ongoing and will be evidenced around the course with tee boxes also coming into line for treatment.

After last month’s false start we have agreed with the Managing Director, Andrew Blunt of Bargain Golf Equipment Ltd for them to take over the running of the Professional Shop at Wearside Golf Club.
They will stock the shop to a high degree and supply an online catalogue in store for customers to view a complete selection of goods. They will install Keiron O’Brien as shop manager and resident professional available for lessons and coaching.
Keiron is currently at working at Filey golf club and has to work notice but it is hoped the shop will be up and running on 1st May 2011.

NEW METHOD FOR ENTERING COMPETITIONS Commencing with the April Medal, tee reservations will be made via the computerized system located in the bar area and will be available at 7-30pm on the Friday 2 weeks before the playing date. You must use your Club swipe card to make reservations. Competition fees for entries via the computer will be paid direct from the relevant player’s competitions fund. The Monday prior to the competitions, a starting sheet will be printed off and displayed enabling entry for members wishing to play on the day but not enter the competition. It will also allow late entries to be added. Players entering this way will be required to pay the £3 entry fee at the Professionals shop as in previous years. A member will be able to reserve a tee time, via their swipe card, for themselves, 1, 2 or 3 other players depending on the format for the day, provided their partner’s names are on their "Buddy list". The entry fee for the competition will be deducted from the individual named members and not just from the member reserving the tee time. Members can create a buddy list with several members’ names on it; this can be done and edited at any time using the system. A set of instructions on how to do this is located next to the computer, and a dummy competition has been set up for members to use and familiarize themselves with the new system. Members reserving a tee time and not honoring it will be liable to suspension from subsequent competitions. Members who play in the competition but do not record their scores will also be liable to suspensions. The non entry of scores has an effect on the overall Standard Scratch for the day. Scores will not be able to be entered retrospectively, // your swipe card does not work, hand it in behind the bar along with your score card to enable your card to be reactivated and your score recorded. Score cards handed in without swipe cards are not acceptable. As you can see the swipe card is now an essential part not only of competition score entry but also the booking of tee times. To this end can I encourage members to familiarize themselves with the system as soon as possible? Dummy competitions have been set up on the computer to enable members to trial the system. No entry fee will be deducted for the dummy competitions. Can I also request that members deposit relevant funds into their competitions account at the bar via the swipe card as soon as possible?
